BACK WITH A VENGENCE
It's been a while since I've done any blogging on my site, and a lot has happened in the past year. Last April I was laid off from the Radio Network after fifteen years, but all was good because by the grace of God and a good severence it was bye-bye Texas and hello Missouri as I traveled back to the family farm to lay down my roots in this sandy soil once more.
In June of last year I went to work for a homeless shelter in Paragould, Arkansas, and I want you to know, it has been an eye-opening year for me. I work as the Benevolent Service Supervisor handling the food pantry, as well as helping those who are having trouble with rent and utility bills. You see all kinds in my line of work. It's amazing what I have learned about the homeless and the poverty stricken in how their minds work, and how we can help change it...enabeling is not on the list for helping them.
The government is a big reason for the long lines of entitlement minded people, and over the next year, I will give you a glimpse of what I see and how it can change. I'll also show you how Mission Outreach is trying to help those who want to rise up out of the ashes, kicking the soot of alcohol and drugs from their shoes, to see and enjoy a better more productive life. And, along the way, you'll also receive the political aspect of why we are seeing more poverty and a larger gap between the classes then we have ever seen before in years past.
So fasten your safety belts, hang on to your hats, and get ready because in the words of the great Betty Davis, "It's going to be a bumpy ride!"
