Psalms 12:8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.
What has happened to our nation when those who do evil are immortalized like gods, while the righteous are persecuted? Something is so wrong with that picture. Something is thoroughly wrong when you flip the channel to a bunch of girls who plan teenage pregnancy and mark it as a club, and people actually enjoy watching it. What about kids who idolize the alcoholics and drug addicts who seem to cover the pages of popular movie magazines and television shows like they were super heroes.
What has happened to our nation? I'll tell you what has happened, too much government and not enough parenting and certainly not enough God. The morals of this country have been tossed into the garbage bin, and what has remained are a generation of people who have no respect for themselves and certainly no respect for others. "It's all about me, and to the devil with the rest of you, just as long as I'm satisfied, and if I have to rob, cheat or kill in order to get what I want then so be it. I'll get away with it, then they'll make a movie about me."
While working in a homeless shelter that offers not only help to the homeless, but also providing food and other assistance to non-residents, I have discovered a whole lot of this selfishness. I have also learned a lot about people who think that jail is a way of life, so stealing, alcohol, drugs, and violence are a way of life. "Thirty days? Ah, that's nothing, I can serve that without batting an eye." Those are just a few of the statements you'll hear. They have no consicence because they have never been taught to have one. They live in the present; what is important is now with no thought of tomorrow and results of actions.
Actions and statements like these is what happens when you allow one person to destroy the integrity of a nation by removing God and prayer from the schools. Madaline Murray O'Hare, may have not done it soley alone, but it was her movement that created the snowball effect that would eventually remove any mention of God in public schools, or any federal, state, county, city or municipal context. It further created the notion that if one person complains of the ten commandments hanging inside a courthouse, while others admire it for many years, then we have to accomodate that one. What happened to the rights of the many who enjoyed seeing it hang in the courthouse? My answer to that one or those few is, don't go in the courthouse, or were you in the courthouse because you had broken one of those commandments and now the conscience you never payed attention to has just come back and bitten you in the rump?
When we put people who do evil on a pedestal, that includes politicians, no doubt it will corrupt the youth who watch and follow them. Always remember that Valdimir Lenin said that the way to take over a country is to corrupt and control it's youth... How do you do that today? Sit them in front of a television set and let them learn morals from Britney Spears or Madonna, better yet, let them listen to Gansta Rap. Have you ever listened to the music children are listening to these days? Are you watching programs they are watching?
Rather than letting Hollywood or the government raise the children, why not be the responsible parent, and teach them respect for themselves and one another, manners, (and not just don't turn your phone off in the theater), but teach them to fear God. I believe we need to watch a few "Leave it to Beaver" episodes along with a little "Father Knows Best" in order to learn what family values are really about. Veiw a few John Wayne movies and show the kids real movie heroes, but more than that, spend time with them and teach them what love really is. Teach then not to admire the evil doer, but to praise the righteous one.
