What has happened to the farmer? Too much GOVERNMENT is what has happened. This sign is at the edge of a watermelon field, and the photo below is from a different field, but a watermelon field as well. Now, the government makes farmers purchase port-a-potties where we used to head to the fence row. And, get this, now farmers are required to offer up wash stations where we used to use our water coolers to wash our hands. They must purchase huge expensive nets that have to be hung overhead inside the sheds.
All of this takes money, and it's money out of your pocket in the end. Did you know that the federal government sends out an inspector to look at the fields, and he lifts up the leaves in the middle of the field to see if he can find any coyote droppings or any other kind, and if he finds anything, he can shut a farmer down. GET REAL people, this is a huge field out in the middle of nowhere.
For centuries, farmers have been providing quality produce for the family table without all of these choke-holding regulations. Until the federal government started sticking their socialist noses into every ones business where it doesn't belong, food prices were reasonable. Now, the cost of family farming is getting too expensive, and soon family farms will be extinct. Remember, according to the socialist/communist manifesto, only government should own land, not individuals because it is a collective..everyone should share in the wealth. That means, everyone is as poor as his neighbor and only the elites have wealth.
Each time the cost of fuel goes up, the price of everything that is transported goes up. Therefore, when it gets to the store, you are paying more for it. Each time the government places another restriction on the farmer, the cost of food on your table increases with it. These regulations are why more food is coming from Mexico, of all places, rather than being produced here in the United States. At this rate, all of your food will be coming from other countries and transported in, because those countries are not tied down with such ridiculous regulations that choke their farmers out of business.
Now, do you want products and produce made here in the United States? If you want to increase the productivity in this country, thereby, improving the jobs industry and increasing pay, the only way is to make the federal government move out of the way. Free enterprise is just that, free will with no government interference. Look at the people you put into office, are they for free enterprise, or are they for big government, which takes money out of your pocket and puts it into theirs. So, why is the cost of food at the register so high, the choke-holding government, that's why.
