Throughout the last year, President Obama and the Democrats have been touting that the big bad pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies are against the health care bill because they are stealing everyone's money through insane profits and leaving poor Americans to die in the streets. Hmm. I wonder what sweet deals were met in those bitter smoke filled back room deals at the White House to change their minds?
The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that As first reported by Timothy Carney of the Washington Examiner, the host committee for the fundraiser at Pennsylvania Avenue's Sonoma Restaurant includes lobbyists for Pfizer, Merck, Eli Lilly, Novartis and sundry other drug companies that have been among the biggest of ObamaCare's corporate sponsors. Other hosts—who have raised at least $10,000 for Ms. Coakley—include representatives from UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana and other insurers. As far as we can tell, the insurance industry claims to oppose ObamaCare's current incarnation.

Those companies weren't the only ones who had lobbyists on hand: America's Health Insurance Plans and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the major trade groups, were also in attendance. So what's going on here? If what the President and his people are saying is true and these companies are so evil, then why are they sleeping with them?
Like the reporter for the Wall Street Journal says, the next time the President or one of the Democrats stands up and criticises the health-care industry, I hope someone in the Press corp has the "gonads" to stand up and ask why they say that; when those same groups were supporting one of the biggest liberals in Massachusetts. So, now, who's the one getting the gold mine, and who's the one left getting the shaft with this Obamacare bill? I'll give you one guess, and it isn't the insurance companies.
