The Huffington Post today had an interesting article, The State of the Union Drinking Game. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/26/state-of-the-union-drinki_n_436932.html
You know that everyone has your number when they start making drinking games out of your speeches.
During President Obama's first year in office, he has given 158 interviews and 411 speeches; that's more than any other President in history, and maybe even more than all of them put together throughout history. So, how many days has he actually been in the White House?
During his first seven months in office, Obama flew on Air Force One to 19 states and 12 countries, some states multiple times. Doesn't that bother anyone, especially, since he has been ostracizing corporate presidents and others for flying their own planes and demanding that we all use less fuel and reduce our carbon footprints? Well, as far as I can figure, with all his traveling to make speeches and the family vacations, along with the extra planes it takes to haul the media and his entourage around, he has made a footprint larger than the whole US put together over the next 100 years.
I have never seen a President who has to have his ego stroked more than this one. He reminds me of Sally Field, who played the failing soap opera star in "Soap Dish." Every time she felt her appeal and popularity begin to fail, Whoopie Goldberg, playing her producer, had to take her to a mall and pretend to be a fan by drawing attention to her. This is President Obama. Every time he thinks someone hasn't seen his face and another fan has failed to worship him enough, he insists on another speech or appearance on TV. We have a celebrity, and not a president.
The solution to our problem is--give him his own reality show, and then we can go about electing a real President and not a want-to-be celebrity, a real President who actually wants to help America rather than make it his captive audience.
