The Democrats always assume that all Americans are a bunch of brain-dead, amnesiacs, with no thought process. How many times have they managed to dance around issues and problems that were created by them and blamed on someone else. Today is no different.
As I was perusing the Wall Street Journal this morning I happened to come across a very small article entitled House Democrat Seeks End to Fannie,Freddie. The article stated that, A top House Democrat on Friday said his committee was preparing to recommend "abolishing" mortgage-finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and rebuilding the U.S. housing-finance system from scratch. The whole time I was reading, I thought, "Nothing like just throwing the Fox into the Hen House--a second time." Politicians and Americans, evidently, didn't learn the first time, or they weren't listening.

The House Democrat the article refers to is the same Fox who back in 2004 argued with House Republicans at a Congressional Hearing against regulating the institutions. House Republicans who wanted to regulate Freddie and Fannie were raked across the coals and practically tarred and feathered by Democrats Gregory Meeks and Maxine Waters, stating that there was nothing wrong with the two institutions. Barney Frank, the House Democrat who spoke on Friday, was also at the Congressional Hearing in 2004 arguing, "I don’t see anything in this report that raises safety and soundness problems." Take a look for yourselves, and listen to the statements straight from the horse's, or should I say "Fox's" mouth.

These same people who insisted nothing was wrong in 2004 and prevented the regulation that would have stopped the bubble that toppled the housing market, are the same people who are now saying that they want to dissolve the two companies and create one that is big-government run. I thought the government was running Fannie and Freddie, and that's why that bubble burst in 2008, pouring economic sludge onto the market, destroying what was once a strong economy. Why should they be trusted to solve the economic crisis they created? What makes them think they can handle it now, when they should couldn't do it then? They weren't listening then, and they sure aren't listening now. However, America are you listening?
